Hypocrisy in the U.S.A.

There’s something no one has ever been able to explain to me.

How come the young men and women serving in the U.S. Military for 20 years, risking their lives protecting freedom, get 50% of their pay, while the politicians who send them to war receive 100% of their pay in retirement, after serving just one term in the safe confines of luxurious capital buildings?

Does this make sense to you?

Here’s a 28th Amendment to the Constitution that hasn’t been proposed by any politician but has been making its rounds across the Internet apparently as something the people might not mind:

“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.”

I bet that would change a few things.

Breaking Bread With KT

In 2012 we set sail, set goals, achieved greatness and did not change our course. In keeping with that, Sunday, January 27, 2013 right after we port, I am once again hosting a special dinner for a select group of people who go above and beyond for me. End the Conditioning

Here comes the end of the year, and here come the tips on diets, resolutions and everything else under the sun. I’m not saying that everything put out there by the so-called “experts” doesn’t have some value to it. But, before you take their advice, consider the source.

If the source is in any way connected to big government, big pharma or big business, maybe you should think twice. Just by virtue of anything that makes it to the mainstream media, some level of caving in to at least one of those three interests has to happen. And if it didn’t, as in my case with my books on alternative forms of health, we get silenced.

National Moment of Silence

One week ago our country endured yet another horrific massacre, this time involving 20 school kids and half a dozen adults entrusted with educating those young minds. In honor of the lives lost I observed the national moment of silence held this morning. I encourage you to do the same.

Tomorrow we can pick up the torch to fight for our free speech rights, today we stand down and send our energy to the victims and their loved ones.

Politicians Don’t Have Your Back

I’m pretty tired of hearing about the “fiscal cliff” that faces our country. Not because the media is hyping it up left and right, but because politicians on the left and right are using it to make themselves appear to be in your corner.

But they aren’t.

Like Warren Buffett said recently on CNBC, "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes. You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.”

Instead we have to listen to the best politicians money can buy, feed us rhetoric and point fingers at each other. Meanwhile, here I am, here all of you are, talking about government and big business interference in our lives and our health. And we get silenced by judges and courts.

I Don’t Miss Zig

Zig Ziglar, a mentor of mine, a friend of mine, and a ground breaking entrepreneur passed away this week. Zig had been suffering from pneumonia, and died at a hospital in Plano, Texas. He was 86.

My positive thoughts and energy go out to his family and friends and the millions of people whose lives he touched. But I don’t miss Zig Ziglar. Because Zig lives on in me, he lives on in you, and he lives on in everyone who benefitted from his wisdom and pioneering spirit over the last several decades.

Let’s keep his spirit alive and well. Let’s lead the lives he taught us to lead, which starts with us keeping our free speech rights and our entrepreneurial rights intact.

I Kid You Not

Every day, I am out there fighting the good fight of protecting our First Amendment right to free speech. Yet there are still those people who don’t believe there is a fight to be had, who don’t believe our government is abusing its power and censoring our criticisms of the government and its actions (or inactions, as the case may frequently be).

Well, here’s some validation.

Last week, TechDirt reported the unsettling findings in Google’s latest Transparency Report. And let me tell you what, the results are frightening. The U.S. topped the list of governments seeking information on Google’s users and in issuing requests to remove from the Web content (a.k.a. censor) that makes the government look bad.

Outraged yet?

WikiLeaks Gets Plugged Up

Want to search the U.S. National Archives for anything related to WikiLeaks? Good luck.

A variety of reports claim that any search of the National Archives database that includes the term “WikiLeaks” is automatically directed to an error message stating that the page has been blocked and the “URL” banned.

Seriously? George Orwell couldn't write a better script than this.

I don't use WikiLeaks much, but I think I know exactly what that means – your government is censoring you!

This is a serious violation of our First Amendment rights. If you find this government directed censorship to be as outrageous as I do, contribute today. The people’s voice must not be silenced.

Fool US Twice—Shame on Facebook

Rumors are swirling that Facebook censored a post—twice—by some organization damning President Obama’s response to the attack on the American embassy in Benghazi.

Facebook says an employee “accidentally” deleted the post—twice. I ask you this: Would it really be all that surprising to discover that Facebook is cooperating with the federal government’s pressure to spin the damage control for this terrible tragedy? Considering what the government has done with my own case, I think not.

I’m not a big fan of social media, but Facebook and Twitter have been given credit for helping start revolutions in the Middle East. But here in America, maybe we have to give them credit for stopping revolutions.

What the Heck?

Someone sent me this video clip and I couldn't believe what the hell I heard.

As you will see in the video, the news anchor introduced this story by saying something like, "What you're about to hear may be offensive, so we'd like to warn you to shut your ears." Then they presented the story about a valedictorian at an Oklahoma high school who was being denied her diploma because, during her valedictorian speech, she said the word ... "hell." As in, "How the hell would I know?"

That's it?! I thought there was going to be an F-bomb or something derogatory toward women, gays, etc. Nope! Just the word "hell."

This news story will get a lot of people talking around water coolers at work or on late night comedy bits, I suppose, because it's so hard to believe that people's ears can be this sensitive toward a word, and a word that is not even truly a curse word. But what will get lost in this is that public schools are an important extension of our government and our Constitution. They are in fact an INSTITUTION working under our Constitution. And now, we're using it to tell our most prized youth (valedictorians and graduates) that they are not allowed to speak freely.

The Oklahoma graduation was supposed to be a commencement exercise, but the only thing that began was an exercise in censorship. Please fight with me. Visit StandWithKT.com and contribute to the cause, today.

In addition to the above, the following link shows an amicus brief filed by the acclaimed Cato Institute. An amicus brief is a document, which is filed in a court by someone who is not directly related to the case under consideration. A typical example of an amicus brief is a document filed by an advocacy group such as the American Civil Liberties Union. The additional information, which is found in such a document, can be useful for the judge evaluating the case, and it becomes part of the official case record. Many nations allow people or entities to file such documents with their courts.

The Cato Institute reviewed this case and determined that the issues have enough merit that they felt compelled to urge The Supreme Court to hear this case via their amicus brief.

The Cato Institute was founded in 1977, and Cato owes its name to Cato's Letters, a series of essays published in 18th-century England that presented a vision of society free from excessive government power. Those essays inspired the architects of the American Revolution.
